Countries and global power blocks are competing to shape, define, and ultimately dominate the competition in the use of artificial intelligence (A.I.). How is A.I. a fundamentally different and novel technology, and how does this change the drivers and rules of the game? What strategies are taking shape in the U.S., the E.U., China, and Russia in the deployment and regulation of A.I.? What is a reasonable, ethical pathway for a technological development that fundamentally alters our experience as reasoning beings? What is the state of play, and ultimately in whose image will A.I. be shaped?
Join CSS members on Thursday, February 9 for a fireside chat with A.I. expert Dr. George A. Tilesch who will talk about his work, the promise (and predicament) of A.I. in an international context, and the prospects of augmented intelligence technologies designed to contribute to genuine human flourishing.
The discussion will be moderated by Ms. Orsolya Domaniczky, director of Common Sense Society–Hungary, and Mr. Levente Nyitrai, president of the London School of Economics (LSE) Alumni Association Hungary.
An informal networking opportunity with Dr. Tilesch will begin at 5:30 P.M. The roundtable discussion will commence at 6:30 P.M., followed by questions and comments from the audience and a light reception. Seats are limited, registrations are on a first-come first-served basis.

Featured Speaker
Dr. George Tilesch is an artificial intelligence expert, senior executive, and consultant working primarily in the transatlantic space across sectors and industries. He is founder and president of PHI Institute for Augmented Intelligence and has worked with government leaders, corporations, international organizations, think tanks, startups, scaleups, and social innovation leaders. He co-authored the book BetweenBrains: Taking Back our AI Future with Omar Hatamleh, former Chief Innovation Officer at NASA. Dr. Tilesch has American and Hungarian citizenship and is based in Silicon Valley. He has degrees in law, political science, and international relations and spent most of this career in technology and innovation leadership roles.
